Learning to Tap

Since I've taken the role of Spats in Sugar, I have to learn how to tap dance. I had my first tap rehearsal earlier this week and wore athletic shoes. Lesson 1: Rubber soles do not make for good tap shoes. A "shuffle" turns into a "stop on a dime." So I couldn't wait to get home and put on a pair of leather-soled shoes to try out my new moves.

Without my knowledge, Angie picked up the camera and started filming. There I was in all of my splendor...boxer briefs, tee shirt, and a pair of wingtips. Lesson 2: Never trust my wife with a camera. You'll be happy to know that there's no "full monty" on this video. I smudged and aged the film enough to present it to most viewers.

Be kind, though, I'm bearing my soles here.

If Snow Won't Come To Us, Then....

I want to say two things. First, I realized today that Angie is on the same level as a six-year-old when it comes to snow. Second, when she opens her mouth during these impulsive moments, there's no mistaking she's from the south.

Excited by the forecast of snow, Angie was impetuously waiting outside. Unfortunately, in our area, it only sleeted; and, for Angie, that just wouldn't do. So, since the snow wouldn't come to us, we went to the snow. We packed in the car and drove to Ruston. This little video shows some of our escapades. Later we stopped at one of Ruston's coffee shops for some beignets and drinks. I was miserably cold, but Angie and Daniel seemed to have a great time.

Outtakes Now - Real Song Later

Pa (my dad) and I wrote a song over 25 years ago. It's one of Angie's favorite songs that I've written. The lyrics start out with "Cold weather's coming..." which is so appropriate for tonight.

It was my intention to bring the song to you tonight. Unfortunately, I haven't practiced the song in quite sometime and, when the camera was rolling, I flubbed a bunch of times. I found these outtakes to be more entertaining than the song itself. (I actually never got all the way through the song tonight without a mistake.)

What's really amusing is the exchange of love and support between Angie and me during the recording session. Angie was "enhancing" her hair at the time and the chemicals just about knocked me off my chair. All of you unmarried peeps need to pay special attention to the shower of affection we afford each other. Don't try this at home...we're professionals...we have 24 years of experience.

Thuggish Ruggish Bones - NOT!

I forgot about this little gem tucked away in my hard drive. Before Angie and Daniel created their "D-nizzle/A-rizzle" dance, she was trying to look like a playa. One problem...she doesn't have thuggish, ruggish bones. Don't worry, I'm not a playa hayta. I'm just calling it like I sees it, fo shizzle.

You be the judge. She was trying to "throw up the deuce" but she didn't have a clue what she was doing. Comedy ensues....

He Deserves a Standing O

I couldn't help myself this morning. Usually I blog at night, but I had something creative bursting out of me today. So I made a film to honor our comrade, Mikey.

As most of you know, Mikey is playing a newspaper dude in Streetcar, Marty Duckworth in Reality Bites Back, and Joe/Josephine/Millionaire in Sugar. That's a lot of work no matter how you slice it.

**Special Note** Turn up the volume after I get through speaking....I still haven't mastered the fine art of recording audio on my storybooks.

Car Wash Kit

This video was shot on Sunday. In fact, if you watch the video that I posted two days ago, you'll see my car in the yard; and this film will explain why.

Also, I decided to give y'all a random photo of my kids from the same day....just for good measure. We are a goofy bunch!

Friggin Blogger

I've tried several times to upload a video to blogspot tonight, but I'm having some technical difficulties. I assume it's a blogger.com issue. I've actually tried to get it to work by using Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera. So far, it’s not working with any of them. I've even tried to upload photos, but no dice! Dangblasted, stupid, @!*&^*&$%#@ blogger! Wait a tick, where's my thesaurus?

I'm really tired tonight and don't have the energy to fight this stupid uploading problem. If you want to crush me mentally and physically, here's how you do it. Get me to sit down and be quiet for and hour and a half! It literally drives me crazy. Tonight, sitting tacitly at rehearsal, just about did me in. I have to move...I have to joke around...I have to circulate in order to percolate. There it is....my Achilles heel. Please don't tell Lex Luther about my "kryptonite" because I've already got enough problems.

Why Not Something Different?

It's Sunday, so let's make this a Fun-day! I played around with some movie editing and created a little silly film. We shot this just before Meredith left to go back to LSU. John was acting goofy and singing. Daniel was impatiently waiting to go to "Swiss Family Robinson" auditions. Angie's in the background nervously tending to a flower I had accidentally stepped on.

Enjoy!

And here's some lagniappe. I was messing around with the camera while I was talking with Matt tonight. I purposely aged the film for effect and it turned out kind of cool.

Rapid Response and Awards

I caught a little, actually only an iddle-biddle, flack from the video last night. So I thought it would be appropriate to explain why I said what I said and to offer my motivations for making the video.

At the same time, I came up with an ingenious idea for weekly awards. Sunday, the last time I checked, is the beginning of a new week. So Saturday night should be the end, right? At the end of each week, we should have awards. And everybody wins!!!! Yah!!!! My video blog tonight will have awards listed at the end.

Enjoy and feel free to disagree, even if you're wrong...and you will be if you don't agree with me.

Man Voice

I went to bed late and woke up early. Guess you could say I'm "dog" tired. So tonight belongs to Scooter.

First things, first. Daniel was on K-104 with Toby-O and John this morning, along with the perpetually lovely, Laura Michelle. Way cool! Thanks John and Toby!

Now on to the blog. The other day I blogged about how Scooter gets excited if you jangle your keys or say "go" too loudly. I forgot to tell you about another thing Scooter has picked up. If you've ever studied classical conditioning (remember Pavlov's dog experiment), you'll understand. His "trigger" now is seeing Angie in her running clothes. For the past month she has been taking Scooter on her morning runs. If she walks in the den in her exercise outfit, Scooter uses what we like to refer to as his "man voice." People, we're being sarcastic here!

And because Scooter is considered "my" dog, all of the family likes to make fun of him. Personally, I think Scooter is similar to Dalton in "Roadhouse." He's "nice until it's time to not be nice." You wouldn't catch that from watching this video, would you? =)
