Mikey's Birthday Bash
I'm going to release this video tomorrow on Facebook. I'm giving my bloggers a first-hand look at it tonight, though. I tried to capture the entire time I was at the party in one video. Pay special attention to the musical interlude in the middle...the editing of that one portion took me over an hour to get it in sync (little pun, haha). It's not perfect, but it'll do, pig, it'll do.
Putting Out Fire With Gasoline
I don't have a good reason for making this little film...other than just the joy of video-editing. When I slowed the video down, Angie sounded cat-like. Immediately the memory of "Cat People" rushed into my head. I loved the movie for several reasons. 1) At the time, I had a "screen crush" on Nastassja Kinski. She was showcasing her seductive lips way before Angelina Jolie...and, believe me, I was paying attention. 2) The movie was shot on location in and around New Orleans. In fact, part of the movie was shot at the Audubon Zoo, one of my favorite places to visit. 3) Giorgio Moroder composed the music and I loved his previous efforts in "Midnight Express" and "American Gigolo." 4) The theme song..."Putting Out Fire." Loved it!
So there you go. That's why I did what I did.

The Green Room
The Green Room at the Strauss is where the actors can take a break in between scenes. Unless you're one of the main stars, you'll wind up spending time in the Green Room. Usually the conversations are spirited and lively as the actors bide their time to go back on stage. However, during rehearsals, one scene can take forever as the director works to get everything right. So, during those times, the Green Room becomes a safe haven for rest and relaxation.
I've warned people not to fall asleep while I have my camera because I like to play practical jokes. My friend, Darron, happened to fall into my trap the other night. You be the judge and tell me if I went too far with this practical joke.

More Sugar Follies
I actually released this video on Facebook earlier today. If you watched that one, this is nothing new. If, per chance, you didn't see it...welcome to the wacky world of Sugar rehearsals...where anything can happen and usually does.

You Never Know
This video is a compilation of movies shot on two different occasions. It is purely random in nature, but thoroughly entertaining. You never know what you might see at a Sugar rehearsal.

A Dose of Reality
Well, it's mid-week and we have two more shows before "Reality...Bites Back" closes. I checked with the ticket office yesterday and seats are filling up quickly. So, if you plan on coming, you might want to call the Strauss today. I thought I'd entice you with a little montage and short video.
A portion of this show is scripted and a portion is ad-libbed. What's important to know is five of the characters have been in the woods for a week and they're competing to win $1,000,000. The short video at the end of the montage is "Pete" ad-libbing at a couple of tables. He and Marsha hooked up in the woods but he's got a little secret...well, six of 'em to be exact.

Don't Blame Me
I asked Kim to be the official videographer last night during the Sugar rehearsal. I was afraid that I might wind up with a bunch of footage of Tony. Actually, Kim was restrained and only took a few photos of her hubby. Crazy thing is she didn't go "hawg wild" like I thought she would with the filming. Maybe I didn't explain how I take random photos/movies of anything and splice them together to make a film. What you see is what we got...don't blame me. One word of warning, though. Someone might make a pass at you...

He's Gunning For You, Meredith
Daniel went to Chicago with a group from Lee Jr. High last week. He had a wonderful time and took over 600 photos. At the top of his list, though, was getting to see "Wicked." Inspired by the play, he painted a version of the poster when he got home. First, he free-hand sketched the faces, and then he carefully painted the canvas. It reminded me of Meredith, who usually does something very similar when she's inspired.
But it dawned on me that Daniel is right on Meredith's tail when it comes to art. I've included a photo of Meredith's award-winning portrait and Daniel's new Wicked portrait. Mere was 18 when she painted hers; and Daniel is still only 12. Give him a few years and I'll bet he'll be right up there in her stratosphere.

No Camera Tricks!
Words cannot describe what you are about to witness. There are no mirrors...no special effects...no camera tricks. Only real guys...in real dresses.

That's About It
My poor family has to listen to me recite lines from movies all day long. I can't help myself because I've always got movie dialogue rambling in my head. I was trying to think of a title for tonight's video blog and kept hearing a conversation between Austin Powers and Felicity Shagwell.
It goes something like this:
Felicity Shagwell: I want to see what happens in the 70s and 80s.
Austin: The 70s and the 80s? You're not missing anything, believe me. I've looked into it. There's a gas shortage and A Flock of Seagulls. That's about it.
So, that sums it up. Nothing special about this video...random faces, random voices, a gremlin, a salute, a kiss, a leg lift, and a feigned choke. That's about it.

Just In Case You've Missed It
Just in case you've missed it, I uploaded my Addy Award winning commercial. I'm really not certain what award it won...maybe the goofiest-guy-in-a-suit or something like that. But in honor of April Fool's Day, I thought I'd make a fool of myself one more time. Have fun at my expense!
